New discussion list for SUD professionals working with GLP-1s
Be in touch if you would like to join.
A lot of doctors are now prescribing GLP-1s for substance use disorders, either off label (without insurance coverage), or on-label for patients who have diabetes or obesity and also have an SUD. You can read some of our patient and doctor profiles here.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been connecting doctors with each other and with researchers who are working on various projects. I thought it might be helpful to create a space for some cross-fertilization. So CASPR is starting a small private discussion list for prescribers.
If you are a prescriber who is working with GLP-1s for SUD or are curious about doing so, you are welcome to join. Clinical researchers are also welcome. The list is for advice, sharing experiences, supporting research projects, dealing with insurance coverage challenges, etc. There may also be some good info on working with compounded GLP-1s for patients who can’t afford Ozempic or Mounjaro and can’t get coverage.
If you would like to join, please email Lucia Simpson — simpson@caspr.org. Let her know your professional affiliation and that you’d like to join the list. Thanks!
